With help from NAR’s Rural Outreach Grant program, the Klamath County Association brought in experts in fire-fighting, insurance issues, and policy to educate members, locals, and elected officials on key matters relating to the risk of wildfires. It was such a success that neighboring associations have been inspired to do the same.

With a Rural Outreach Grant from the REALTOR Party, the Indiana Association of REALTORS® partnered with a coalition that mapped the internet capabilities of rural residents through targeted internet speed tests, revealing an 11% statewide deficiency in service. Thanks to the survey, as federal infrastructure funds are disbursed by the state, service providers will know exactly where high-speed broadband is needed.

In Utah, as in many western states, water rights are highly complex, and conducting transactions without a complete awareness of their ins-and-outs is highly risky, both for agents and their clients. Last year, the Iron County Board of REALTORS® used a Rural Outreach Grant to offer a three-hour course online, providing REALTORS® and affiliates throughout the state with manuals, forms, and three continuing education credits at no cost.

Whether residents of the Asheville region were on the city water system or wells of their own, Hurricane Helene made water safety a top priority. The local REALTOR® association held a forum addressing critical concerns, with speakers including an attorney, a plumber, and a home inspector. Everyone went home with water testing kits, and a Rural Outreach Grant from the REALTOR® Party helped make it possible.
