Oregon REALTORS® Rally Public Support for Legislation Lowering Barriers to Condominium Construction

On the heels of significant legislative advances for housing in recent sessions, Oregon REALTORS® kept up the momentum by backing a law that would bring the state statute of limitations on construction defect liability closer in-line with that of its western peers. Their latest legislative success will reduce barriers to building affordable condominiums and expand access to homeownership to more Oregon residents. Their effort got a big boost from the REALTOR® Party’s Advocacy Everywhere program.

In rural Oregon, Klamath County Association of REALTORS® Conducts Wildfire Mitigation Symposium

With help from NAR’s Rural Outreach Grant program, the Klamath County Association brought in experts in fire-fighting, insurance issues, and policy to educate members, locals, and elected officials on key matters relating to the risk of wildfires. It was such a success that neighboring associations have been inspired to do the same.

Glendale Association of REALTORS® Layers Multiple REALTOR® Party Resources to Oppose Threat of Additional Transfer Tax

A strategic deployment of several resources from the REALTOR® Party, including an Issues Mobilization grant and an assessment by the Land Use Initiative program, helped the southern California association keep an additional transfer tax from being put on the ballot, where it would have been magnitudes more costly to combat.

Keeping Legislative Attention Focused on Housing, Utah REALTORS® Achieve Passage of Priority Bills

In a push to realize an ambitious raft of housing policy, Utah REALTORS® launched a campaign called Getting Homeownership in Utah Back on Track. The effort was a success: all its priority bills passed, the legislature authorized an additional $20 million in funding for first-time homebuyers, and an innovative partnership was formed to develop affordable housing on excess state land. An Issues Mobilization grant from the REALTOR® Party helped make it happen.

Illinois REALTORS® and Quad City REALTORS® Use Polling and Issues Mobilization Grant to Defeat Threat of Home Rule in East Moline

When the City of East Moline sought to achieve home rule, the REALTORS® recognized that the new status would likely lead to higher taxes. Armed with the results of focus group research, they devised a persuasive campaign that fended off the threat, defeating the ballot measure by 68%.

Illinois REALTORS® and Champaign County Association of REALTORS® Successfully Campaign Against Property Tax Increase

Polling conducted by the REALTOR® Party informed a high-stakes campaign against a significant property tax increase in Champaign, Illinois that would have dealt a heavy blow to affordability and brought low-income residents closer to homelessness. An Issues Mobilization grant supported the mailings and advertisements that brought the message to the voters.
